Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I am very happy to serve you and your children principal for Santa Cruz Catholic School here in Buda. In the mid-seventies I left Ireland, where I taught for two years, and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. There I continued my teaching career in Catholic schools for thirteen years and then served as principal in an elementary school for seven years followed by six years as principal of a middle school. In 2001 I was hired by Bishop Gregory Aymond to serve as superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Austin. Four years later I moved to the Texas Catholic Conference where I served as Director of Education for eleven years overseeing the accreditation of all the Catholic schools in the state. For the past three years I have engaged in some consulting for the Diocese of Austin but upon hearing about the opportunity to serve Santa Cruz and the Buda community I decided to come out of semi-retirement. My husband and I are the proud parents of four children and eight grandchildren. I like to read, play golf and knit. I come from a large family of eight so I also like to reconnect with my siblings each summer. I am extremely privileged to be able to serve the school community as it is still in its infancy. Your children are the reason for the school’s existence and I pledge to work with you to ensure that your child will be nurtured and encouraged as we walk this path together.
Sincerely in Christ,
Margaret McGettrick
